Course Summary

This course explores the ethical boundaries that guide psychologists in assessment settings, with a focus on avoiding multiple relationships and dual roles that could impair objectivity, competence, or professional judgment. Drawing from the APA Ethical Principles of Psychologists Code of Conduct and New York State Education Department (NYSED) guidelines, participants will examine real-world scenarios that challenge professional boundaries. The course emphasizes strategies for identifying potential conflicts of interest, maintaining impartiality, and ensuring the integrity of the assessment process. Using formal guidelines and applied examples, psychologists will strengthen their ability to uphold ethical standards that protect clients, maintain trust, and promote responsible professional practice. This course meets NYSED criteria for 1 hour of Continuing Education on Appropriate Boundaries.
